Lugnaquilla Awaits.

On 26th June Baltinglass GAA will be holding their annual trek up Lugnaquilla in aid of our Juveniles. Everyone is invited. The walk will be leisurely and led by experienced guides. We climb as a group and no one is left behind. You can take as many breaks as needed and it is usually a great day of fun and conversation. Juvenile players will be asking for sponsorship in the coming weeks, and we would be obliged if you could kindly sponsor them. However, the main purpose of this event is social and to allow people the opportunity to climb the mountain, who wouldn’t normally do so. Why not stick June 26th in your diary and come along on the day. The sense of achievement is second to none once you have completed it and the views from the top are spectacular on a clear day. All are welcome and we would ask you to keep an eye on the local notes and our Facebook page for further information closer to the date.

Well done to Sarah Jane, Helena and Marie in representing Wicklow in the Ladies Intermediate LGFA Championship match in Aughrim on Sunday. Unfortunately, Wexford managed to get the victory on the day but we were very proud of the way the girls performed.

U14 Girls

The Under 14 girls took on Bray in the League and whilst they started really well, they faded towards the end and Bray’s strength and depth was to prove our downfall. Having said that, the girls never gave up and with a bit of luck, the result could have been different. However, things just didn’t seem to fall their way on the day. Well done to the girls who put in a great effort.

U14 B boys.

On Wednesday night Ballinacor and Baltinglass met in the U14 C league game in Ballinacor. The first half was close until Baltinglass scored a goal just before half time to leave the score 1.06 to 0.04. In the second half, our lads managed to push on and the final score was 4.11 to 1.05. Well played to all of the lads and thank you to Ballinacor for hosting.

Well done to Scoil Naomh Iosaf boys on winning the Gamma Hanlon Blitz in Donard this week and to the Girls who managed to get to the final but to be narrowly beaten after

extra time . Thanks to Paul Garrigan for running the blitz and to Mr. Walsh and Mr. Hannifin for coaching the teams on the day.

U12 Boys

The U12 boys had a busy week this week. They took on Donard in the Mini League 5th Round in Baltinglass on Monday night, where they were they won a very hard fought game. On Sunday Morning they took part in the Naas Tournament in which they played Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin), St. Colmcilles (Meath), Athlone (Westmeath) and Round Towers (Kildare). They were narrowly beaten by Colmcilles and eventual winners, Kilmacud Crokes, but managed to overcome their Kildare and Westmeath opposition and acquitted them very well on the day. Thank you to Naas GAA for the invitation to the tournament. It was a very worthwhile and enjoyable day had by all.

U10 Girls

The Under 10 girls played a very good match last weekend against Sarsfields in Newbridge and did very well. Thank you to Brian and his team for organising this.

U10 Boys

Our U10 boys traveled to the Mullingar Shamrocks club on Sunday to play in the Annual Mullingar Shamrocks U10 Tournament. This is a very prestigious competition with clubs such as Erins Isle, Salthill, Navan O’Mahonys, Kilmacud Crokes and Mullahoran taking part. The U10s last year managed to win tournament outright and it would always be a big ask for to expect this years lads to do it once more, particularly as they were missing a few key players. However, they did acquit themselves very well, qualifying second in their group, having beaten Kilbeggan and Downes, but having come out second to Killoe. Unfortunately, they were narrowly beaten in the Shield Semi Final but came away from the competition with a great experience. Thank you to Mullingar Shamrocks for Hosting the competition and we look forward to our U11 teams visit there next week.
