Senior Men.

There is possibly no nicer place to be than Aughrim in the sunshine. A good crowd of loyal Balto supporters made the trip on Sunday evening to watch the Senior men take on St. Bodens in the first round of the Championship. Balto were of course red hot favourites and one could have been forgiven for thinking that the lads were a little too complacent in the first few minutes, as St. Bodens rattled the Baltinglass net with an unstoppable shot which flew by Baltinglass debutant Mark Jackson. In fact, after just two minutes, Baltinglass trailed by 4 points. Having come to terms with this, the Baltinglass forward line sprung into action. With Ian Sheerin pulling the strings at left half forward line the Baltinglass were soon back on terms and with the foot firmly on the pedal. Goals by Dan Kelly and Henry Sinnott saw us go in at half time, leading, 2.06 to 1.03. The second half was a very one sided affair. St. Bodens faded badly and were not able to keep with Baltinglass who looked to have the fitter team on the day. The highlights were John McGrath and Dan Kelly bagging two more goals, to leave the final score Baltinglass 4.15, St. Bodens 1.05. The first match of the Paul Garrigan era, gets off to a flying start. It has to be said however that Paul or any opposition parties who attended on Sunday evening, will have learned very little about the Baltinglass Team of 2016.

Senior Ladies,

The Senior Ladies take on AGB on Tuesday, 19th at 8pm. We would be greatly appreciative of your support.

U14 Ladies.

Well done to the U14 County players, Katelyn Coffey, Ciara O’Brien and Ella Parke who were part of the team who were victorious in the LGFA Leinster blitz in Portlaoise on Friday. The beat Carlow Laois and Offaly before overcoming Wexford in the final. Well done to Rosie Coffey who is working with this county team as well as our own U14 ladies.

U12 Boys.

An under strength U12 team traveled to Round towers in Kildare on Saturday to take part in their annual tournament. They played Portarlington, Naas and Tinryland, and progressed to the Shield semi final, where they were beaten narrowly by Palatine of Carlow, who eventually went on to win the Shield, beating Summerhill of Meath in the final. The lads who were there acquitted themselves admirably on the day, as did the parents who traveled. It was a great day out and we would like to express our sincere thanks to the Round Towers Club for their hospitality.
