U16 Boys.

Well done to the U16 lads who had a great win over St. Nicholas in the first round of the Championship. There was little or nothing between these two teams in the league and it was always felt that this was going to be a close encounter. At half time, there was five points between the two teams as the score was Baltinglass 0.09, St. Nicholas 0.04. it is interesting to note that 5 of the points scored by Baltinglass and 3 of the points scored by St. Nicholas’ were as a result of frees awarded. At the start of the second half, St Nicholas’ were left to rue some missed opportunities which would have got them back in the game. However, it was Baltinglass who were to prove more clinical in front of goal, netting twice in the 36th and the 38th minute. St. Nicholas, true to form fought back and scored a goal shortly afterwards, to leave the score 2.09 to 1. 04. From then on, it was a match dominated by some great defensive play on both sides, but the lead that Baltinglass had gained was always going to be a bridge to far. The Final Score was Baltinglass 2.12 St. Nicholas 1.05. Whilst we are delighted with the 10 point win, it is probably an unfair reflection of how closely fought this game was from start to finish and we would not relish the prospects of meeting St. Nicholas again in the 2016 championship.

U12 Girls

Well done to the U12 girls who really had to dig deep to overcome a very strong St. Pats Side in the first round of the Championship . It has to be said that this is no more than Sheena and the girls deserve. They have worked extremely hard this year and have been on the wrong end of many tough and close decisions in the league. The level of progress and dedication that have been shown by this bunch of players has to be commended. They are a credit to their families and the club and their attitude is second to none. However well they do in the championship, they are an example to all of our teams, both male and female in the club and we would like to wish them the very best for future matches.

U12 Boys

The U12 boys made the very tough trip to Rathnew last Monday night. The lads are unbeaten to date and knew that Rathnew would one of the toughest challenges to date. The U12 competition sees two teams play simultaneously with the combined scores added at the end of the matches. At half time there was virtually nothing between the sides, with Baltinglass up by 6 on one pitch and 4 on the other. On a night in which goals were hard to come by until the last few minutes there was nothing between the sides up until the last 10 minutes when our lads managed to find the net on a few occasions. Probably the most pleasing aspect on the night was our long range point scoring, with each team scoring 11 points. The lads are now through to the Division 1 A final with two matches left to play. We wish them all the very best.

Community Games.

A number of our players are were involved in the Community games finals in Athlone this weekend. Well done to U10 player Kareem Matomni who won gold in the U10 hurdles and along with his teem mates, Valerie Doogue, Abbey Doherty, Damien Corrigan, Emily Quinn and Sean Campion came 4th in the mixed Relay. We are delighted with your achievements. Well done to you all.
