Launch of Baltinglass Broadway Challenge

By now most of you will be aware that our club intends to take on the Broadway Challenge. To learn what it is all about, we are launching  the Broadway challenge on Friday 9th September in Horans Function Room at 9.30 pm. and everyone is invited. We intend to entertain the masses on the Sunday night of the October Bank Holiday Weekend in Mount Wolesley, so to get a sneak preview of some of the participants and what lies in store, please come along on next Friday Night

JUNIOR B PRESENTATION.

Sincere thank you to County Chairman Martin Coleman for presenting last years Junior B Medals to the lads on Saturday night. There was a very good turn out of players, officers and supporters and it was a very enjoyable evening..

Senior Ladies.

The Senior Ladies traveled to Annacurra on Saturday night to take on a much fancied St. Pats team. However, the ladies of Baltinglass were not to be outdone on the night. Many said that the loss of several players at the start of the year would weaken the side. This however was not evident on the night as the outclassed their Wicklow Town Counterparts and recorded a comprehensive victory Baltinglass 3.13 St. Pats, 1.09. A much tougher test lies in store on Tuesday night v Tinahely in Baltinglass in the county Semi Final. We wish them the very best of luck

Intermediate Men

The intermediate men went down to An Tochar on Saturday evening and are now into a relegation battle.

Minor Boys

The Minors had a very good win over a strong Carnew team in the Championship on Wednesday night. Whilst Baltinglass looked to be stronger overall, they found it hard to come to terms with the fast forward line of Carnew and their physical strength up the middle. The lads will know that they got out of jail on this occasion.

 U14 Girls

The U14 girls were beaten by Tinahely on Saturday afternoon. Tinahely mounted a huge score in the first half. However, the second half was dominated in large parts by Baltinglass as they fought for everything and in fact out scored their opposition in the second half. However, it was never going to be enough to bridge the gap. The way that the girls played in the second half was admirable and we would hope that this is the spirit that will prevail as they play their first Shield match in the coming weeks.

U14 Boys

The U14 Boys had a narrow victory over St. Pats on Thursday evening. St. Pats started like a train and within 2 minutes had shook the back of the Baltinglass Net. However, Baltinglass replied with a goal and seven points which went unanswered and with a seven point lead at half time, looked to be home and dry. However, St. Pats did not give up and managed to come out with all guns blazing in the second half. Baltinglass were to wind up eventual winners on a scoreline of 2.11 to 3.05 but know that they possibly rode their luck a little in this one.

U8, U9 & U10 boys

The boys traveled to Blessington on Saturday to take part in the Blessington Leinster Blitz Both teams did very well. The U9s even managed to top their group and reach the final. The U10s played Maynooth, Rathnew Cuala and Blessington and are worthy of high praise at the way they performed in these matches. The U8s did very well also and were the envy of everyone there as they had the opportunity to play on the Astroturf. We would like to thank the Blessington Club for their hospitality. The tournament was run like clockwork and the players had a great day out. Well done Blessington GAA and the Baltinglass Players and Coaches.
